Mental Health Monday Week 5

| By Sadie DeArruda | December 6, 2021 |

Mental Health Monday will feature every Monday in The Bears Bulletin for the next few weeks to help students navigate their COVID ruts! Feel free to work through the activities in order, or mix and match with whatever days you want.

  1. Ask a friend about their day.

  2. Leave a coin in a tip jar if you find one.

  3. Do a random act of kindness. (Here’s some ideas if you need some inspiration) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uixWjkoC3XAcA3J1GqySLzxrPPZrwriWjOXy2pb4eBU/edit?usp=sharing

  4. Put your phone away 20 minutes before bed.

  5. Make a card for a senior (this website has all the information) https://www.sendingsunshine.ca/

  6. Find a book on a subject that interests you.

  7. Wear your favourite piece of clothing.

Grounding tool of the week:

Try counting backwards from 100 using multiples. For example, 100, 93, 86, 79, 72, and so on as you count backwards, removing seven each time. If this task becomes too distressing, you can always try to count using smaller numbers, or even just count down from 100.

It’s time to start a brand new year, with lots of memories to be made! Have a great week, KSS.
