To discuss this very deep political opinion further, we first have to discuss the basics—what is the definition of soup, and what must something have to be considered soup?
Well, let's dive in and find out!
If you were to simply go on Google and search for the definition of soup, it would be something straightforward and boring like, “a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc., in stock or water” (source from Oxford Languages) which isn't really what we are looking for. Something that I would use to describe the word would be: “A commonly consumed appetizer dish by many cultures, created from a water or stock base, with added components such as vegetables, types of meat, and many more to satisfy the human need of nourishing our bodies with energy and healthy vitamins and minerals.”
This definition is more so fit to define the noun we will be talking about today.
Now let's get to the real topic of today's discussion - Can a body of water be considered soup?
In order to properly answer this complex question, we need to further break it down into its constituents (ingredients if you dare). For example, if we were to talk about the ocean as a body of water, then I would argue that it could be considered soup – the reason would be that this large amount of salt water, which also conveniently provides habitation for inhabitants many different types of fish and plant life, can be thought as a large bowl of very salty soup. In another case, if we were talking about a small puddle in the middle of an elementary school playground, then no, it wouldn't be called soup because the soup doesn't have to be just tasty, but the dish has to look edible.
In my conclusions, I would like to speak out about what I, as the author, believe about this complicated opinion: I do believe that several specific bodies of water can be defined as soup since they consist of all the needed ingredients used to cook soups. This doesn't mean that all water can be soup, but not all of it isn't soup.
Thank you very much for reading this very random article, and have a nice day!
