On May 13, 2021 the Limestone District School Board released a statement outlining their plans for learning for the 2021-2022 school year. They covered both the in-person and virtual schools in this announcement.
They announced that, as of now, in-person learning will be happening full-time. They said that the current plan is to run ‘quadmesters’ with two classes per day divided by lunch for the first semester as opposed to the ‘octomester’ system of one class per day that we have experienced this year. While this is still subject to change over the course of the next few months, for now students can assume that this will be how our first semester of the next school year will look. In addition to this information, they also stated that this will be happening for the first semester, which leaves hope to finish off the year in a regular, four-class-per-day format. No matter what model is used, schools will still be prepared to switch to hybrid or remote learning if necessary. Finally, they added that despite vaccinations, masks will most likely still be mandatory along with daily screening and cohorts.
As for the virtual school, the board had previously confirmed that it will still be an option next year for anyone who wishes to enroll in it for any reason, however they have extended the dates for registration until June 4th, 2021 as opposed to the previous deadline of early April. They will still do the best they can to accommodate requests after June 4th, however it may not always be possible.
